The APPA, (Association of Atlantic Pleasure Ports), is the continuation of the U.3.P. (Union of Ponant Pleasure Ports) which was created in 1974 to bring together the Pleasure Ports of the western facade of France, from Dunkirk to Hendaye (excluding Brittany), and which separated, after being co-founder, from the FFPP (French Federation of Pleasure Ports) in 2004.
The association brings together 53 pleasure ports:
Spread from Loire Atlantique to the Spanish Basque Country,
with a capacity of 30,700 berths, buoys, and moorings.
The APPA works to advise operators and managers of pleasure ports, as well as their staff, on daily issues and to support them in essential infrastructure developments, whether environmental, technical, or regulatory.
To help actors on the entire Atlantic coast implement an environmental strategy, the APPA has established a Charter of Good Environmental Management, which each member signs. This Charter highlights 14 commitments, the application of which must guarantee good port management. An audit of the environmental practices of each volunteer port was carried out in 2011-2012 by a specialized consulting firm. This audit identified the work or actions to be carried out for each port to fully meet the Charter's objectives. Technical recommendations, cost estimates, and a proposal for prioritizing actions are included.
The passport aims to encourage pleasure port customers to sail.
The boater informs their home port of their sailing periods, and in exchange, they benefit from free stopover nights in a network of 82 partner ports.
The "host" port invoices the stopover night to the boat's home port. This system allows the boater to benefit from free nights and the port manager to have better monitoring of the water plan and the availability of spaces freed up by boaters with annual contracts.
Declarations are made at partner harbor master's offices, by phone or online, from the website www.passeportescales.com, where boaters can also check the stopover nights already consumed and the remaining nights available.
To benefit from your free stopover nights, you must observe the following rules:
Declare your departure before noon
Free nights are limited to 2 consecutive nights per port and per stopover. A third paid night does not entitle you to a 4th or even 5th free night. The goal is to encourage boats to sail.
Present yourself upon arrival to the port staff (or the next day if you arrive at night) to quickly complete the stopover formalities. If you present yourself on the day of your departure, you may be refused the free night.
The duration of the free stopover is 24 hours, calculated from noon to the next noon.
An early return to your home port modifies your departure notice (your notice will be modified according to the date of your early return)... If you leave again, remember to renew your notice.
The advantages and services of your Passeport Escales are linked to the conditions of your berth contract with your home port: validity period, number of ports with free nights, number of free nights possible per port...
Your card is nominative and linked to your boat: your Passeport Escales is not transferable or assignable in case of boat sale.
Request your Passeport Escales card from the harbor master's office of your home port
Go to the website www.passeportescales.com/fr/enregistrement (passeport escale registration) to activate your account
You can then declare your departure notices for cruises, check the stopover nights already consumed, and the remaining nights available.
When you leave your home port, you have 4 options to declare and thus enjoy free nights :
By simply presenting your card at all harbor master's offices in the network
